A quiet temple courtyard at dawn with an old tree and a stone lantern

Baduanjin · Eight Silk Brocades

A quiet practice for a loud, seated life.

Slow, beautifully taught qigong for people who sit all day. Learn Baduanjin from Old Pine and Brother Stone in a temple courtyard, beside a stream and on a mountain summit.

Ask Brother Stone

12 minutes. No equipment. No experience. Gentle exercise, not medical advice.

Slow by design

Eight gentle movements, taught one at a time with the breath that goes with each. You can feel the difference after one sitting, and you can do it in work clothes.

Taught properly

Every lesson follows the standard Health Qigong form, so what you learn matches what teachers practise around the world. Each form comes with its common mistake and an easier version.

Honest about AI

Old Pine and Brother Stone are AI-generated characters and the narration is an AI voice. We say so plainly, claim no lineage, and keep the teaching careful and sourced from the public standard.

Your teachers

Two quiet figures, one steady practice.

Old Pine, an elderly teacher in undyed linen with a silver beard

The master

Old Pine

Moves slowly and exactly. He appears in the opening scenes and the final bow, and in the lessons where the pace matters most. His motto: slow is the lesson.

Brother Stone, a senior disciple in charcoal clothing with a white trim

The senior disciple

Brother Stone

Demonstrates the beginner's way, including the easy versions. He also answers your questions as your AI practice coach, any time you are stuck.

Meet the coach

Both are AI-generated characters. They never speak on camera; an English narrator explains.

My knees hurt in the wide stance of the bow form. What should I change?
That is a common one, and it is usually about the stance rather than the arms. Make the stance higher and narrower, with only a slight bend in the knees. Check that each knee points the way its toes point. If they still complain, practise the arm movement alone with your feet in the basic stance, or seated. Pain at the front of the knee, a catching feeling or swelling means stop and see a doctor or physiotherapist.

Questions

Before you begin.

What is Baduanjin?

Baduanjin, or Eight Silk Brocades, is one of the best-known qigong routines in China: eight gentle movements done standing, slowly, with relaxed breathing. It needs no equipment and about two square metres of floor.

Do I need any experience or flexibility?

No. Every form comes with an easier version, including seated ones, and you move only as far as is comfortable.

Are the teachers real people?

No. Old Pine and Brother Stone are AI-generated characters and the narration is an AI voice. We never claim a lineage, a title or a credential for them. You can read the disclosure in our terms.

Can Baduanjin treat a health condition?

No. It is gentle exercise for general wellbeing, and not a treatment for any condition. Talk to your doctor before starting if you are pregnant, injured, recovering from surgery or managing a health condition.

When are the lesson videos ready?

The Desk Reset lessons are being filmed now. Buying today is early access: you get the course the moment it opens, at the early price, plus a full refund within 30 days of delivery if it is not for you. Written guidance and narration clips are available straight away.

Gentle exercise, not medical advice. Baduanjin is slow, low-impact movement. It does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and nothing here replaces your doctor or physiotherapist. Move within a comfortable range, stop if something hurts or you feel dizzy, and check with a health professional first if you are pregnant, injured, recovering from surgery or managing a health condition.
